In the summer of 2017, an innovative 3rd grade teacher from Massachusetts had been following Piglet, the deaf blind puppy on Facebook. She was planning to use Piglet’s videos to teach growth mindset to her students. With her insight into what an amazing growth mindset model Piglet is for children, she coined the phrase Piglet Mindset and created a full growth mindset curriculum centered around Piglet and his positive attitude towards facing his challenges.
Piglet is an adorable little dog who acts as a vehicle to engage children and adults as he faces his challenges with a positive attitude.
Our online educational materials illustrate how Piglet uses the 3 senses he has to live a happy, meaningful, productive life despite his disabilities. Piglet and his amazing supportive 6-pack of rescued dogs set an extraordinary example of Acceptance, Inclusion, Empathy, and Kindness regardless of looks, abilities, and disabilities.
The primary goals of the Piglet Mindset Educational Program are to reinforce SEL lessons and emphasize acceptance, inclusion, empathy, and kindness to all people and animals.
New for the 2023-24 school year, we have reorganized our lesson plans and curriculum to align with and fit into the CASEL Framework. We've added new focus and discussion questions, reading response journal prompts, and hands-on activities to all of our PowerPoint / eBook lessons.
Our online educational materials can be used in the classroom, at home, with scouts, camps, counseling services, senior centers, programs for individuals with disabilities.
Piglet Mindset Lesson Plans and Educational Materials are available here on Piglet’s website for teachers who are interested in using Piglet as part of their SEL and inclusion curriculum. We encourage teachers to add to and improvise to fit Piglet Mindset into their own teaching style and classroom atmosphere.
We support teachers who introduce their students to Piglet, the deaf blind pink puppy and incorporate Piglet Mindset lessons into their curriculum.
We provide a personalized greeting for the class from Piglet and his pack.
We correspond with the children for holidays and other key points during the school year. We provide small Piglet Merch at no charge or at a discounted rate.
We arrange in-person and virtual school and classroom visits with specially designed hands-on activities depending on location and availability.
Our program is entertaining and fun, but the primary goal of our program is not entertainment.
The primary goal of our Piglet Mindset School and Classroom Visits is to emphasize Piglet's positivity, resilience, inclusion, and kindness, and to reinforce SEL lessons.
Classroom and school visits begin with a short Powerpoint presentation. We follow with our hands-on activity stations that address the 5 senses and how Piglet uses the 3 senses he has to live a happy, meaningful life despite his disabilities. A live dog demo, Q & A, and wrap-up give the children an amazing Piglet Mindset experience. Larger school assemblies are similar but teachers follow up with the hands-on activities.
The format is flexible, adaptable, and can be customized to different size groups and number of presentations requested.
Zoom, Facetime, or Google Meet Sessions are a virtual alternative to an in-person school or classroom visit. Virtual Visits with Piglet and his pack are adaptable to a wide range of applications throughout the school year. When classes are participating in ongoing Piglet Mindset lessons, we can meet virtually for short Q&A sessions, demos of Piglet's tap signals, observing Piglet's mealtime, or even when Piglet is visiting his friends at the vet hospital. Virtual sessions are a great addition to an end of the school year Pink Party.

Piglet’s dog family understands and accepts that he is a little bit different from them.
Piglet feels confident because he is always included when the other dogs play, take walks, travel, and do tricks.
They are extra gentle when he gets wild and accidentally bumps into them, even when they are startled.
They help him to live his best life despite his many disabilities and challenges!
